Krzysztof Biegański

My name is Krzysztof Biegański, and I compete in bikejoring, one of the disciplines of sled dog sports. I represent the “Flying Dogs – Sled Dog Sports Club” (Latające Psy Klub Sportów Psich Zaprzęgów).

Bikejoring is essentially a time-trial race involving a mountain biker working in sync with a single dog. My journey with this sport began in 2010, when I started training in a slightly different discipline – canicross (runner + dog) – under the guidance of experienced and decorated athlete Igor Tracz. In 2011, I transitioned to bikejoring and trained until 2017, when I left the Amberdog club. At that point, I decided to focus more on my personal life and cycling (both road and mountain biking). However, after a few years away from the sport, I realized I still craved the unique connection and thrill of working with a dog.

In 2021, a young Greyster named Kluska joined my home.

“Nothing motivates you to stay active more than a dog that demands to run.”

I began training, socializing, and bonding with her – building a strong relationship that soon led to great results in our very first competition season, along with a tremendous sense of joy and pride in the effort and passion invested in the sport. I fell in love with bikejoring so deeply that in July 2023, I welcomed a second dog, Śliwka, who is now starting her own journey to becoming a sled dog.

Of course, in order to be well-prepared to race with dogs, I train regularly on both road and mountain bikes, compete in cycling races, and continue expanding my knowledge of dog training and care. In this sport, the dog plays a crucial role – for a dog to perform well, it must be properly introduced to the sport and must form a bond with the athlete. Without that connection, success is simply not possible.
